Chairman

Prof. Guang-Zhong Yang, FREng, CBE

Professor Guang-Zhong Yang is the founding dean of the Medical Robotics Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He was the founding director of the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Imperial College London. Professor Yang is also the Chairman of the advisory board, the UK-RAS Network (http://ukras.org). Professor Yang’s main research interests are in medical imaging, sensing and robotics. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, fellow of IEEE, IET, AIMBE, IAMBE, MICCAI, CGI and a recipient of the Royal Society Research Merit Award and listed in The Times Eureka ‘Top 100’ in British Science. Professor Yang is the founding editor of Science Robotics (http://robotics.sciencemag.org/) – a journal of the Science family dedicated to the latest advances in robotics and how it enables or underpins new scientific discoveries. He was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s 2017 New Year Honours for his contribution to biomedical engineering. Prof. Yang founded Precision Robotics Ltd in 2017 - spun off company from the Hamlyn Centre, Imperial College London.

Principal Robotics Engineer

Dr. Ning Liu

 

Dr. Liu obtained his PhD from the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Imperial College London, UK. His research topics are related to both the hardware design and software development of snake robots. He has been working closely with Royal Brompton Hospital for clinical advices. Dr Liu’s PhD study was supported by Imperial College London and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship. Prior to that, he obtained a MSc degree and a MRes degree from Imperial College London, and a BSc degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University, China. 

Senior Industrial Designer

Mr. Alan Kwok

 

Mr. Kwok obtained his Master of Design from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and is currently a visiting lecturer in products design at the same university.

He was twice the winner and was the recipient for the Honourable Mention Award of the Red Dot Design Award in 2014 and 2016.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Sai Yan Ng

 

Mr. Ng obtained his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2007. He has over 10 years of experience in consumer electronics and medical products, specialising in injection moulding, design for manufacturing and medical process validation.
